What GolfJot keeps, and where it goes

Last updated October 28, 2026

GolfJot is a scorecard for youth golf. The people who use it are adults: whoever keeps score for a group, and the coaches who set matches up. This page says what each of them sends anywhere, in plain terms.

Keeping score on a card you set up yourself

Nothing leaves the phone. The course, the pars, the players’ names and every score are kept on that phone only, in the browser’s own storage. There is no account, and GolfJot never sees any of it.

Keeping score with a coach’s match code

When you type a code, the phone checks it with GolfJot, and receives the match’s holes and the player names the coach set so you can tap them.

From then on, each time you finish a hole, the card goes to the account of the coach who set up the match: the scores, and the names on the card, whether you tapped them from the coach’s list or typed them in. A copy stays on your phone.

You don’t make an account to do this, and GolfJot doesn’t receive your name, your phone number or your location.

Coach accounts

A coach’s account holds:

In an event with several teams, the host sees only the players a coach marks as available for that event, and the two pairing details only if that coach chooses to send them for that event.

Analytics

GolfJot uses Google Analytics to count visits to two places: the page a first-time visitor sees at golfjot.com, and the coach area. It records that the page was viewed and whether someone tapped “Coach sign-in”. Google Analytics also sets a cookie to tell repeat visits apart, and works out the visitor’s rough location and type of device from the browser.

It never runs while you set up a card or keep score, never runs in the installed app, and is never sent names, team names, match codes or email addresses. It isn’t used for advertising, and Google keeps the data for two months.

To opt out everywhere, use Google’s opt-out browser add-on, or block cookies for golfjot.com.

Who else handles it

The site is hosted by Netlify, and coach accounts and synced scores are stored with Supabase. Both keep ordinary technical logs, such as IP addresses, to run the service. Sign-in emails are sent through Brevo, which handles coach email addresses for that purpose only. Season Pass payments are processed by Stripe, and GolfJot never sees or stores card numbers. Stripe holds the billing name, address and email given at checkout. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared for advertising.

Children

Players are often children, but they don’t use GolfJot. Their names are entered by their coach or by the adult keeping score. A player is a name on a card, plus any marks their coach adds. GolfJot asks for no birth dates, contact details or photos of players.

Removing your information

Rounds on a phone are removed by clearing GolfJot’s site data in the browser, or by uninstalling the app. A coach can delete players, matches and events from the coach area.

Scores sent to a coach’s match are deleted automatically about 90 days after the match was set up. To have a synced round removed sooner, a scorekeeper can ask the coach, or email support@golfjot.com.

To delete a coach account and everything in it, email support@golfjot.com.

Changes and contact

If this changes, this page changes first, with a new date at the top. Questions go to support@golfjot.com.
